Airport Intercity Railway Station (The Squaire)

Location:Frankfurt am Main
Area:Train destination indicator, travel centre
Services:   HOAI, Lph 1 - 8

As part of the restructuring of the railway lines and the expansion of the ICE route network, the Frankfurt am Main airport intercity railway station was built in 1999. It is the largest airport railway station in Germany and is used by more than 20,000 travellers a day. Since 2011, the largest office building in Germany, "The Squaire", with a total rental area of 140,000 m², has been an addition to the railway station, making the building complex one of the architectural and postcode highlights in Germany. It even has its own postcode in addition to its breath-taking architecture. THE SQUAIRE measures 660 metres in length, up to 65 metres in width and 45 metres in height. The building, which was built over the existing intercity railway station and contains offices, hotels and other commercial space, has nine floors. The Squaire is directly connected to Terminal 1 at the airport by a connecting passage. Image rights: ©Christian Gahl
